Brownstone Books, Inc.,
has 2 locations: one in the heart of the Stuyvesant Heights
Historic District of Bedford-Stuyvesant and a second location
at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). We are a community
bookstore specializing in popular and hard-to-find African-American
interest adult and children titles. In addition, Brownstone
Books stocks a wide selection of classic and popular literature
to include New York Times bestsellers, plus public and private
school required reading selections.
We offer an almost weekly schedule of
author readings/lectures, special events, and book clubs
for adults and children. Brownstone Books is well established
as a favorite venue for highly reputable and new authors.
We have hosted a number of local and nationally recognized
authors including: Nikki Giovanni, BeBe Moore Campbell,
A'lelia Bundles, Bernice McFadden, Colin Channer, Grace
Edwards, Jill Nelson, Donna Hill, Lorenzo Pace, Javake
Steptoe, Tonya Lewis Lee, Brooke Stevens and many others.
Brownstone Books hasn't forgotten our
youngest readers. Children's
Story Hour is every Wednesday and Saturday at noon.
Each week a dedicated group of moms, dads, and caregivers
bring their infants, toddlers and school-age children
for a fun-filled hour of reading, storytelling and lots
of movement.
